Fresno's Historic Chinatown was established approximately in 1872 and was the area hub long before the city of Fresno was founded in 1885.
Fresno's best kept secrets for food, shopping, sights and sounds in Chinatown wait to be discovered. Fresno Chinatown's underground tunnels -- rumored secret tunnels that connected the various buildings and allowed discrete passage underground -- have recently been rediscovered.

Chinatown Fresno represents the great ethnic, cultural and architectural diversity of Old Fresno. Every year, Fresno Chinatown is home to a number of events including the Chinese New Year Parade, the annual Fresno Betsuin Buddhist Obon Festival, and the Fresno Chinatown Music and Arts Festival.
